RESTOCK RETURNED ITEMS FEATURE IN NETSUITE

Scenario

There is no need to update the inventory after the item is returned by the customer.

Solution

In such cases we can enable a feature in the Netsuite account that will not restock the items to the inventory.

For that an accounting feature ‘RESTOCK RETURNED ITEMS‘ should be enabled under the Returns tab.

This feature will automatically check the ‘RESTOCK’ checkbox on item receipt forms by default. If it is unchecked the Restock box should be checked on each item receipt individually.

In the Item receipt form, under the item and expense subtab, we have a ‘RESTOCK’ check box. We can check or uncheck this box.

Upon un-checking, the ‘RESTOCK’ check box in the item line of the item receipt form, the returned quantity will not be updated in the inventory. If we check this box, the stock will be updated with the returned quantity. The Write-Off Account for Returns is needed to post the loss for returned items, that are not returned to inventory for resale. Thus we can receive items without restocking to inventory.
