GTmetrix was developed by Carbon60 as a tool for customers to easily test the performance of their webpages.
GTmetrix is a simple tool that will give you different performance metrics related to website speed, which you can analyze and use to optimize your site’s performance. It has different options to test your site’s speed in different browsers, varied network speeds, and in multiple locations. Gtmetrix is powered by Lighthouse, Google’s automated tool that helps in improving site performance.
The GTmetrix grade provides an idea of your site’s performance taking into account the loading time, visual stability and interactivity. It is actually a combination of your site’s frontend structure and the performance experienced by an actual user.
Currently the grade is an average of two scores – Performance and Structure.
Performance is the Lighthouse score, which is obtained through GTmetrix custom audits, along with different browser and hardware specifications. Structure is a proprietary assessment done by GTmetrix on your Lighthouse Opportunity and Diagnostic audits. Overall, your Structure score will give an idea on how well your site is built for an optimized performance.
