If users are unable to find the Void or Delete button when attempting to edit a Credit Memo, it may be due to the following reasons:
- The transaction is in a closed period: When a transaction falls within a closed accounting period, voiding or deleting it becomes restricted. To resolve this, an administrator needs to reopen the relevant accounting period. Here’s how to do it:
- a. Go to Setup > Accounting > Manage Accounting Periods.
- b. Click on the checklist icon for the period in which the Credit Memo resides.
- c. Click on the arrow icon for the Close Task.
- d. Provide a justification for reopening the period.
- e. Click the “Reopen Period” button. Once the posting period is reopened, users should be able to edit the Credit Memo, void it, or delete it. However, it is essential to consult our accounting department regarding any actions related to period closure.
- Void Transactions Using Reversing Journals preference is enabled: If the accounting preference “Void Transactions Using Reversing Journals” is checked, the void function is disabled for Credit Memos and other records. To resolve this, an administrator needs to remove the checkmark for this preference. Here’s how:
- a. Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Accounting Preferences.
- b. Click on the General tab.
- c. Remove the checkmark next to “Void Transactions Using Reversing Journals.”
- d. Click “Save.”
By following these steps, users should be able to access the Void or Delete button for the Credit Memo and rectify any mistakes made.
