Credit memos can be initiated either directly as standalone documents or through the conversion of Return Authorization records in NetSuite.
To differentiate between these two paths of creation, a “Created From” field will be displayed on credit memos generated from Return Authorization records. Notably, this field will remain hidden for credit memos that are initiated as standalone documents.
If an item present in the credit memo created from a Return Authorization is detached, and another item is introduced in its place, the credit memo will automatically transition into a standalone credit memo, thereby disassociating it from its original source, the Return Authorization record.
