Proposal For Implementation Of Manufacturing Traveler for Biomeme, Inc

Proposal Summary

This proposal encompasses the development and design of a customized Manufacturing  Traveler template. The objective is to create a pdf template that effectively presents and organizes the necessary information related to work orders.

Requirements

Biomeme, Inc. has expressed the need to incorporate manufacturing traveler in their Work Order records. We want to consolidate paperwork on production floor and use as a tool to collect data in NetSuite (track WIP and track actual processing time). This will give better visibility in production giving opportunities for more accurate planning, and indicators of inefficiencies.

Goals of Traveler:

1. Eliminate/consolidate paperwork.

       a. Work order/BOM/Work order completion.

                i. BOM to show any phantom sub-assemblies as flat.

       b. Input of MAC Addresses corresponding completed work orders.

       c. Auto generate Lot # on work order completion.

2. Production Tracking

     a. WIP

               i. Report completion quantity.

ii. Track work order/operation starting and stopping times

      b. Assign Techs to operation sequence steps.

3. Data collection

     a. Actual processing Hours and number of techs per work order/operation.

Prerequisites

  • Please provide the updated Manufacturing traveler PDF mock-up with Expiration date, Actual Start Date, Actual End Date added.
  • Please share Biomeme logo as we checked in the company information, logo is unavailable.

Deliverables

  • We will add a custom button ‘Traveler’ to generate the manufacturing Traveler on the work order record which is in released status.
  • When user click on the button, a custom record named “Manufacturing Traveler“ opens in the create mode with some input fields. The user can be able to enter data in the input fields in the custom record.
  • The input fields in the custom record will be

                1. Lot #/ Mac Address

                2. Comments

                3. Primary Tech Signature. (in the operation table)

                4. Secondary Tech Signature (in the operation table)

                5. Actual Start date (in the operation table)

                6. Actual End date. (in the operation table)

  • Once the user saves the custom record, there is a custom “Print” button for printing the Manufacturing Traveler in the custom record view mode. When click the print button, user can take printout of the Manufacturing traveler PDF.
  • We will create sub list to show the operation table in the custom record. We will add two column fields in the sublist to enter the Actual start date and Actual End Date. All other fields in the operation sublist are not editable.
  • We will add column field in operation sublist for Comments, Primary Tech Signature, Secondary Tech Signature.
  • When the user again clicks the “Traveler” button in the workorder, the custom record opens in view mode. User can edit the custom record by clicking the edit button and enter the details. User can be able to manually enter the “Actual Start Date “,” Actual End Date “in the operation table in the custom record.
  • We will add two checkboxes in the custom record.

                 a.  Auto

                 b.  Manual

  • When the user clicks the Auto Checkbox, we will disable the Manual generation of lot number and system will create a lot number. The auto generated Lot# will be populated in the custom field of the Custom record.
  • When the user clicks the Manual checkbox, we will disable the auto generation of lot number, and user can enter the Lot Number and its corresponding Quantity in the inventory sub list of the custom record based on the quantity to build value in the WO.
  • Once all the input fields and Lot#/Mac Address are entered and saved, the custom record will be open in view mode. In the View mode, we will add the print button and user can take the printout of the Manufacturing traveller PDF.
  • We will also attach the custom record in the workorder record for reference.
  • We will create a custom button “Work Order Completion“ in the Work order to create a workorder completion record. When the user clicks the button, WO completion record created, and we will show a message that “WO Completion created successfully”.
  • We will fetch the details from the related workorder and set the mandatory fields and inventory details in the WO Completion record.
  • Once the Work order Completion record created, the custom button “Work Order Completion “ will be disabled.
  • We will remove the standard button “Enter Completion” from the WO.
  • The work order completion record will be accessed from the related record of the WO.

Assumptions

  • The button called ‘Traveler’ will add to generate the manufacturing Traveler in the work order record in released status.
  • A custom record will open upon the Traveler button click action.
  • User can be able to input data in the fields in the Custom record.
  • We assume that during the initial print, lot #/Mac Address, Actual start date, Actual End date is not populated in the PDF as these field are disabled at the initial print.
  • The Header fields data of the Traveler PDF will be fetched from the body fields and the table data will be fetched from the item table and operation subtab of the work order record.
  • We assume that header field data will be shown only in the first page of the PDF.
  • We will add page number in the traveler PDF to identify each page uniquely.
  • We will add an extra column for expiration date in the Bill of Material table.
  • We assume that the barcode type used in the Traveler is code 128.
  • User will manually enter the Actual Start Date and Actual End Date.
  • We believe that the Actual start date, Actual End date will be the fields in the operation sub list that should be editable. We will add validation for those two columns that once the custom record saved, the entered date will not be modifiable.
  • We assume that the users who create the Manufacture Traveler PDF will have NetSuite access.
  • We will create a check box in the custom page. When the user checks the checkbox, the lot# number automatically generated.
  • We will add two option to generate Lot#/Mac Address as auto generated and Manual. User can take decision to create the lot number upon the check box click.
  • We believe that when the user decided to generate lot# as auto generated, the manual lot#/Mac Address generation will be disabled in the custom record and vice versa.
  • We will create a custom button “Work Order Completion“ in the Work order to create a workorder completion record.
  • Once the “Work Order Completion“ button click, we will automatically create WO Completion record to set the inventory details.
  • We believe that the starting Operation and ending Operation and completed quantity will be same as in the Work order.
  • We assume that there will be only one work order completion record will be generated for each individual work order.

Limitations

  • It cannot be able to populate the body level inventory details in the WO Completion record from the Manufacturing Traveler custom record as it will create through UI. NetSuite does not allow to auto-populate the inventory detail upon the creation of WO Completion. That is why we will create the WO completion record automatically using the custom button “Work Order Completion”
  • If there are multiple Workorder Completion record generated for same Work order, the lot# number population will not be worked as expected.

Queries

  • Could you please let us know the format for Lot Number generation automatically?
  • Please let us know the font size, font-style and page size of the Manufacturing traveller?
