When we receive inventory from our vendor, those items are committed to existing open orders or backorders. We can use the Reallocate Items transaction to manually reallocate these items to different open orders than the ones they are automatically allocated to. We can reallocate items to orders as needed instead of using the item commitment allocated automatically. For example, we receive a shipment of widgets from our vendor. These widgets are automatically allocated to existing open orders. On the same day, a customer calls us in need of widgets. We can enter an order for that customer and then reallocate the new shipment of widgets to fill the new order.
- Depending on our order preference setting for item commitments, we can automatically allocate items from inventory to commit them to fill orders
- NetSuite can automatically commit inventory
- Enter or approve a sales order
- Receive items from our vendors in case of backorders
- Inventory that we generate from assembly work orders
