Import Preference for New Assets
If we are importing mid-life assets, set these preferences as follows:
- In Setup > Import/Export > CSV Import Preference, check the Run Server SuiteScript and Trigger Workflows box.
- In Fixed Assets > Setup > System Setup, clear the Run Server Script on CSV Import box.
Guidelines for Importing Mid-life Asset Records
We can import data using the CSV Import Assistant in NetSuite to create mid-life assets (assets that already started depreciating). For each asset record, a depreciation history record must be created to record the cumulative depreciation to date. We can import several depreciation history records for each asset, representing each prior period of depreciation.
Note: The Acquisition History Record is automatically created if we define a depreciation start date for the asset.
For mid-life assets that are linked to asset types with default tax methods (alternate depreciation), we must also update the tax methods.
