When trying to inactivate a Matrix Sub Item, An error message was encountered.
Error: ‘You cannot apply new options to an individual child matrix item. Add new options to the parent matrix instead.’
The reason is that there are discrepancies with the Item Options on the Matrix Sub Item and on the Parent Matrix. For example:
- Matrix Sub Item has Item Option A and Item Option B; while,
- Parent Matrix has Items Option A, Item Option B and Item Option C
You can add the other missing Item Options to the sub item by updating the Parent Matrix to proceed in Inactivating the Item or you may just do below workaround:
1. Navigate to Lists > Accounting > Items
2. Disable the Inline Edit
3. Mark the Show Inactives checkbox
4. Sort the List by Item
5. Look for Items Matrix Sub Item then mark the Inactive checkbox
5. Click Submit
